He has been a sailor since the age of 9, starting with Optimist. Later, he transitioned to windsurfing/J24 and surfing. At a very young age, 17 years old, he began coaching the Peruvian team for many years, which led him to migrate to Mexico to coach the Mexican Optimist team. Some years ago, he reintegrated into competitive sailing, primarily in the windsurfing and J70 classes.
